Papa Joe's is a Cape Coral staple that's been in this town for as long as I've been visiting (20+ years). It is a solid go-to place when you want to sit down and have an Italian meal or pizza with a glass of wine or a beer. They have great garlic rolls - freshly made topped with grated cheese and serve wine by the carafe, glass or bottle. I always have their fried calamari appetizer with a salad or a small pasta as my meal and I always leave with leftovers. Papa Joe's salad is delicious - a chopped salad served with chopped ham, chopped cheese, chopped tomatoes, chopped olives, chopped onions - all in a delicious vinegarette. Stick with "pizzaria type" specials like baked ziti, shrimp parm, chicken parm - once you get into the "special meals" that are non-red sauce based - they're not that great. Pizza served in house is great. As is their straciatella soup. Stay away from the pasta fagiole - unless you like pepperoni in it. ALWAYS PACKED on Friday, Saturday nights so get there early or be prepared to wait. Very casual place - good for groups and/or kids - they have crayons right on the tables. Reasonable prices - they finally take Visa (no amex). Also no dessert served here either.

Best pizza ever! My friend and I showed up at their doorstep 2 minutes from closing time (we didn't realize) and started to sadly turn away when one of the servers came and opened the door. We could tell they were wrapping up for the night but the girl ushered us in and said they were "still" open for another minute. Most places would've told us to go elsewhere! We felt bad but we were so hungry and so grateful that we just followed her in. My god. The pizza was epic. The sauce was delicious, ingredients top par, and the cheese stretched a mile long. If you're going here for the first time then DEF order a pizza. ANY pizza. Its all top par.

LOVE this place! The pizza reminds me of home, the salad is CLOSE to Grandma's the staff is always friendly and attentive. I know when I go there I'm going to leave happy :)

Food was five stars, service from our server was above average, owner's attitude and personality ruined the entire experience. Gone are the days when Eddie ran a class operation. Come expecting good, affordable Italian food (best in Cape Coral) but steer clear of the owner's self-righteous, crass and brassy personality.

The food was average and the service was horrible. It took over an hour to eat for lunch and it wasn't that busy. I expected it too be much better than the other Italian restaurants in the Cape from what people have mentioned.

Our first visit to Papa Joe's since there is usually a waiting line during the winter. We enjoyed our dinner. The food was good and priced fairly. Store front style atmosphere, friendly and nice service. I would go back. Friends say the pizza is good so we will be back to try it. We were told the owner is from Garfield, NJ a small Italian town near our home town, so they should know how to cook.

I was able to try Papa Joe's while I was down in Florida visiting my parents. I have to say that I'm a sucker for some pasta. I love carbs. I was excited to give them a try. The restaurant is located right off Cape Coral Parkway, literally right off the parkway. The front door is about 15 feet from the roadway. They've got a little patio setup where you can dine 'alfresco', but you'll hear & see the cars driving by. Inside, the restaurant isn't huge, they've got about 20 tables or so. You can tell this place has been around for a while because they've got a lot of pictures up on the wall of past and present customers. The hostess sat us quickly, our sever was a fast, but curt woman. She seemed very rushed throughout the dinner service. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and I was very impressed with it. It was delicious. The menu is vast and I decided to be simple and get the Alfredo with chicken. The pasta comes with a salad. The portions here are LARGE. I was really surprised with how much pasta we all got. I know it's about 14-18 bucks a plate, but still. I was able to eat about half it before I had to throw in the towel and get a box to take it home. The pasta itself was good, I didn't think it was amazing. If I go back again I'll probably try the calzone. They've got a bunch of options for pizza, but I'm too much in love with Paradise Pizza down the street.

I think the atmosphere is cramped and stinky each time I went in (x3). To me...the food is on the bland side and cheese dominates most of their dishes. I've tried chicken Parmesan (rubbery texture), spaghetti and pasta, and lasagna. The only 2 items I actually enjoy here is the eggplant Parmesan and the stuffed mushrooms. I've ordered mushroom soup, and was brought out a bowl of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup. I was highly disappointed in the flavor of the food considering how people rave about this place.

We arrived at 7 pm on Christmas Eve, and were told that the restaurant was closing at 8. Nonetheless, we were seated and enjoyed great service. As table after table of new diners were seated, it became apparent that this place was not going to close any time soon! Food is outstanding: try the antipasto salad - a work of art! We also shared an order of ravioli in the most incredible tomato sauce, and a wonderful pizza. This is one of the friendliest restaurants around, and it was a joy to spend Christmas Eve here. We didn't feel like an imposition, but like a guest in their home.

I haved lived in CC for 2 years and tonight was our first visit. Always seemed busy when I drive by. My husband and mom got the chicken parmesan and they both said it was only ok. I ordered the meatless lasagna and as soon as I cut into it, it gushed out a soupy cheese mix. It had no texture and was tasteless. Almost felt I should eat it with a spoon. Won't be back.

Best pizza I have ever had in Lee County. Wish they still offered delivery service like they used to. The only thing I can really give a review on at Papa Joe's is the pizza because that's the only thing I've ever had there other than the seafood salad which is okay but not fabulous. Had pizza again here last night (1/12/15) and I forgot what sets Papa Joe's apart from all the other pizza joints in Lee County. It's their mozzarella cheese! It is so delicious where every other pizza place including the big chains have mozzarella cheese that tastes like rubber. They also offer a lunch special for $5 that includes 2 large pizza slices and a drink.

Normally its good, but this week we went in for a pizza and left a little disappointed. We ordered a large sausage pizza and it seemed a little smaller then normal and toppings were sparse at the most.It almost seemed the pizza size was down sized a little.Maybe there's a new pizza maker there.I wasn't thrilled this nite.Im not sure ill go back for pizza again.

Great pizza and cheesy bread. Nice location, too. Too small though, and it's like a labyrinth to get to the bathroom.

Excellent portions. Pretty good food. The calzone was literally as big as 1.5 footballs. Pasta was plentiful and tasty. Garlic cheese bread and italian soup were good as appetizers. Very busy but got seated quickly and served promptly.

We had carry out pizza while staying with friends in Cape Coral. Best pizza I have had since visiting my daughter in NY City. The crust is fantastic. The toppings were fresh and very tasty. If you are a pizza lover it doesn't get any better than this

  • Cameron C.

Had the pleasure of eating here twice in the last few days. The pizza is good with quality toppings. Service was good as well. The caesar salad tastes like it is "out of the bag" with off-the-shelf croutons and a dressing that is very bland. The winner was the rolls. I have had better dinner rolls (Ippolitos in Atlanta) but not by much and the extra dessert rolls served at the end of the meal were a great surprise.

The pizza is great. We also had the cheesy garlic bread and it was tasty. I've been here many times and it's always delicious.

We really liked Papa Joe's but the wait staff is something to be desired. The waitress we had on a Friday evening had such a bad attitude and very unpleasant. She never came over to us once she took our order until the end with the check. In fact, someone else brought us our food. The visit here only took about a half hour total for a pizza, salad and drinks. We were looking for a kind of place where you could lounge for a bit before all the food came at once. If you are pressed for time this is the place to go.

  • Scott B.

Normally good but tonight's water downed sauce and extremely poor service disappointed us. Server basically ignored us early on, had to ask about salads we ordered, bread, and server acted like everything fine. We like quaint atmosphere and were friends with Eddie (owner that passed). He probably turned over last night. What a great guy he was!

First time customer. Unreal apps and pizza. So good and absolutely worth the wait and quality. Make the visit. Manicotti was great. Garlic cheese bread tasty. Pizza was excellent with and without toppings. Service outstanding.

This is a casual local favorite with great Italian food & great service. Their Mussels are amazing as well as their Pizza, Calamari, Lasagne and the Seafood Combo is excellent! Friendly staff who are eager to please!

Welcome to Cape Coral's best cheap Italian! Went there for lunch and tried the baked pasta and the pizza, both of which were excellent. The best part was the price, got out of there for less than $15, including food and beers for two. Service was also excellent. Remember, its cheap Italian, so manage your expectations, but overall was excellent food for the money.

Has a nice small town pizza place..family owned and was busy when we came by.

  • Bobbi W.

Just ok.... Less than average. I carried out while staying in Cape Coral. The pizza was soggy. The crust was good, but the sauce had no flavor at all. I think the sauce was from a can. They could have used some oregano. The veggies tastes fresh, but doesn't make up for the rest. We also had a greek salad. The FETA was great! Very creamy. It's hard to screw up salad, so.... Overall I would probable not go back. Run of the mill.
